Howay the Nook

P7130306.JPGProud Windy Nook captain Connor holds up yet another trophy for our school football team. This was the icing on the cake for our mixed team of both boys and girls who have had a memorable season. They have won both the 'John Hurd Cup' and the 'Astro Trophy' as well as finishing winners of their group in the 'Year 6 Cup'. So well done the 'lads' and 'lasses'.

Sports Week

S7300901.JPGTo celebrate Sports Week, the children at Windy Nook have been participating in all sorts of exciting tournaments and challenges.  They have enjoyed taster sessions of Extreme Frisbee and Bollywood Dancing from specialist coaches from the North East and received high praise for their attitude and effort.   Using the playground areas and equipment, Key Stage Two completed a Super Stars' which included hopping, skipping, running, long jump and javelin and team games.  The weather was very kind to us on sports day this year and our children participated in a carousel of events. The children were a credit to both parents and school - it was a a fantastic week for all.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents for their support.

More success this time in rowing our Year 6 children 'stormed' home with the overall Year 6 trophy beating some stiff opposition. Not forgetting our Year 5's who came a very close second in the Year 5 trophy. All the children who took part had a great time and there were some great individual performances as well.

The Felldyke Trophy

Windy Nook Girls 023.jpg'Bend it like Buckley' If you look closely at the goal you can see the ball nicely nestled in the corner. Amy put it there from the half way line. 'Move over Beckham'

Thumbnail image for Windy Nook Girls 004.jpgHere is Harriet slipping the ball past a stranded South Street goalkeeper. She scored 7 goals that day with a left foot that Robin Van Persie would be proud of'.

What a day, the girls were fantastic and just pipped in the final by the hosts Felldyke.

Splish Splash Splosh!!!

No it's not plastering, it's the Swimming Gala at Felling Baths.

Our children had a splashing time on Thursday in the Swimming Gala. It has been our best result for some years. There were medals for Alex, Connor, Dylan, Kieran with the boys team finishing in a very creditable third place. Even more pleasing, the whole team finished joint third out of 14 schools. The children were both a credit to themselves as well as the school.

Maybe we have a future Olympian in our midst. So well done to you all.
