It’s Red Nose Day on Friday! Here’s a copy of the note children were given.

Comic Relief Letter 2013

Remember to bring your £1 donation. Can’t wait to see what you are all going to wear!

Comic Relief started in the 1980s and it is the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day this year. Look out for school staff wearing 1980s clothes on Friday!

World Maths Day

On Wednesday 6th March we celebrated World Maths Day in school. Key Stage One and Two children were able to log on to the World Games website and had lots of fun competing against children from around the World. We had tangrams, cookery and puzzles throughout the day.

A fun time was definitely had by all. You could say…mathstastic!

Movie Night

Many thanks to those who supported Movie Night. There were 132 children who came along to watch ‘Polar Express.’

Donations raised £142 which will be going to ‘Aquila Way’, a local charity helping those in need (adults, if you want to learn more about this charity, click on the link below)

My thanks also go to the members of school staff who gave up their time to help supervise the children. School councillors also helped with the organisation of the night. Merry Christmas to all (and to all a good night!)

Reading Club

Calling all bookworms!! Do you love reading and listening to stories? Then you will love an opportunity to be invited to our reading club in KS2. One lunchtime a week Mrs Smith will be inviting a class to join her in the library to listen to stories.  Children are invited to bring in books of their own and the class will then vote on which one we will read. Mrs Smith will also choose a book to read and discuss.

‘Beat Bullying Blues’

This week we have been celebrating anti-bullying week, where a variety of activities and tasks have been on the go! From assemblies, sharing Key Stage One and Two yards, designing friendship frames, anti-bullying posters and slogans.

As part of the week we ran a competition in Key Stage One and Two which was to design an anti-bullying poster and promote the role of our ‘Listening Buddies’ in school.

Well done to all of the winners – a tremendous effort!

Hurrah For Harvest!

Harvest time has come again and Windy Nook celebrated.Year Three and Four children performed a marvellous harvest festival for the parents and the rest of the school. All of Upper Key Stage Two and the infants sang along to the songs and had a great time. Let’s all say big thank you to Mrs Green, Miss Karpinski and Mrs Smith who helped put on a fabulous performance.

Well done Year Three and Four!
