Roman Day 2009

On Friday, November 27, Class 8 had great fun learning about the Romans by travelling back in time for the day. They found out very quickly that Roman clothing was very different to school uniform and that putting on a toga was a tricky task.

After togas were securely fastened, the children found out about Roman coins and jewellery.  They made their own jewellery and laurel wreath and then went on to learn about the food that Romans ate.  They enjoyed some Roman style food but stuffed dormice were replaced by chocolate ones.

This was all part of our Roman themed term, where we have already made mosaics and pottery and met a real archaeologist.  Class 8 know that History can be fun.
