Mrs Wong's Literacy set have been studying a unit of work on 'Persuasive Texts.' We looked at written adverts and the features they use to try to entice you to try the product.
Next, we looked at DVD cases and the text on the back that tries to encourage you to watch the film.
Finally, we looked at DVD trailers. We watched them to see how the moving images, sound track, voice over and sound effects are used to create a trailer that makes us desperate to see that film.
Our job was to then make a DVD trailer of our own. We used 'Photo story' to make a trailer for 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.'
• We sequenced images from the film.
• We added titles to some of these images to entice you to watch the film.
• Next, we wrote a script ready for the voiceover.
• Having practised the script, we were ready to record the voiceover. We did our best to use exciting voices and even tried to sound like some of the characters from the film.
• The finishing touch was the music. We chose this carefully to match the mood of the film.
Once we had finished, we had a screening for our parents and carers. We had popcorn whilst we watched the trailers.
It was great fun and we produced some very professional trailers. Have a look and see what you think...
