Roll up! Roll up! It’s Enterprise Week in Year Three/Four!
This week, children throughout the school have been engaged in activities designed to develop their economic awareness. Year Three/Four pupils (Classes 6, 7 and 8) have been making items to sell as part of a ‘Stationery Sale’ on Friday 27th June. The sale will take place at playtime. Pupils will be selling:
• Pencil toppers that they have made themselves...
• Book marks – again made with their own fair hands!
• Exercise books – ideal as a diary, notebook, sketch book or scrap book.
All items are priced between 10p and 50p
Please come and buy! Bring lots of change – silver coins would be best.
See you there!

SANDWICH SNACKS
As part of Design Technology work, children in Year Three and Four made sandwiches. ![]()
![]()
We had a visit from staff from Marks and Spencer. They brought samples of bread and sandwiches to try to give us some ideas for what to put in our sandwiches.
Next, we had a ‘Taste Test’ of our own. We sampled different spreads until we could make a choice of which we preferred. We also sampled different types of bread to help us to choose which we would like to use in our sandwich.
Food hygiene was the focus for our next session. We learned how to prepare a basic sandwich, following good hygiene rules (of course we had to sample what we had made too!)
Our focused task was then to use the knowledge we had gained so far and design and make a sandwich that would ‘fill’ the BFG from the Roald Dahl story. We thought about our design criteria (had to be healthy, had to be ‘filling,’ etc) and worked in groups to produce a design.
We then followed the design to make our sandwich. They were quadruple deckers! We had to hold them with both hands when we were eating them! Yummy!

Shiver Me Timbers!
Scavenger hunting, dressing up, eating pirate jelly and ice cream, rescuing friends from the crocodiles, walking the plank and singing were all part of our special day. It was enjoyed by the pirate crew and captains too! Thank you to all those who helped to make the day such fun.

TAKE A SEAT!
As part of Art lessons, Classes 6, 7 and 8 designed and made a chair for a story book character.
![]()
To research this area, we looked at different types of seat and considered their uses, how they were made and the types of materials they were made from.
Next, we made a basic frame from wood and secured it with card corners. Once we had done this, we were ready to design our chairs. We thought carefully about the design and use of colour as the chair had to match the personality of the character that we had designed it for.
We made chairs for Action Man, the Little Mermaid, Felicity Wishes, the Three Little Pigs, Horrid Henry – to name but a few!

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!! MATCH REPORT 21.5.08 by ROSS WILSON
Yet again another win for Windy Nook. What else could you ask for?............. a draw with the strongest team and a win against your rivals.
South Street 1 Windy Nook 1
A great game including both teams missing terrific chances.A game where Windy Nook dominated the first half, having many chances and swiping the post with a shot from Ross Wilson.Jonnie Bolam and Jay Kirtley staying strong at the back, it seemed impossible to score, but they did scoring a well worked goal. Then just before the end who else to score but Alexander Bainbridge with a beautiful lob over the keeper. Well it finished with a well deserved draw but to be fair we should have won.
Colegate 1 Windy Nook 2
Windy started off the better team with many chances with Colegate squeezing in 1 or 2. Then a shot from Ross Wilson ended up in the back of the net after two great Joseph Cranston performances lining up Ross to fire into the back of the net. Then minutes later Colegate pulled one back with a wonderful save by Lloyd Simpson before the rebound went past him. Then straight after, again, Alexander Bainbridge netted his second of the afternoon. Also putting in excellent performance were Harvey Simpson, Jack Parker, Daniel Laidler and Charlie Harrison. But overall a great team performance.
