Meeting the Victorians

Victorians.gif
Today Yr 5/6 began to research 'Victorian Britain'.
Whilst we collected facts we already knew, it became clear we had some 'UNANSWERED QUESTIONS!'

We are listing them here and perhaps you can help by finding the answers and adding them as comments below.
1. Did the Victorians use trams?
2. Did the Titanic sink during the Victorian era?
3. Were there different flavours of ice-cream when it was first invented?
4. Could girls be chimney sweeps?
5. How many countries did Britain own?
6. How did Queen Victoria die?
7. Why did Victoria not smile?

To offer an answer just write which question you are answering followed by what you've found out.

Booster Buddies

No sooner had the holiday started than our Year Six pupils decided they were missing school SO MUCH, they just had to come back...

Forty pupils and seven staff gathered to polish up on a few points to help progress over the next few months.

So....for a literacy merit point on 21st April, who can give me the proper term for this device...used to keep the reader in suspense?

Taking Shape!

Didn't look great did it?

But thanks to a £4000 grant from the Council, we are nearly ready to start planting up our rejuvenated pond.

As you can see we are having a fantastic dipping platform built and when the boards are down we'll be able to get cracking with the pond plants, the bog garden and the wild flowering banks.

We can't wait!

Want to get involved (pupils and parents) just let Mr. Firth know and we'll give you a job!
