Gymnastics Festival
Year 6 gave a fantastic display at the Gymnastics Festival in November. Their routine to ' Breaking Free' from high School musical was performed to a huge audience of about 600 people. The routine included a number of gymnastic skills such as cartwheels, headstands, teddy bear rolls and balances. Practising at dinner time and after school for a number of weeks definitely paid off. The children then performed again in both KS1 and KS2 assemblies.

Peter Beardsley comes to Windy Nook!
We were delighted to find out on Friday that Peter Beardsley was able to attend our special assembly today. You will recall that the names of all the children who had 100% attendance and who were on time all term were entered into a draw to win tickets for the Newcastle v Middlesbrough match this Sunday.
After selecting the winner of the tickets, Peter was happy to pose with our own top team (and our lovely silverware), and he has promised a return fixture to sign autographs!

The Hottest Tickets in Toon!
Have you heard about our 100% attendance initiative?
The names of all children who attended 100% and were not late last term have been put into a special prize draw for two tickets for a VERY special football match!
The lucky pupil will be able to attend the Newcastle v Middlesbrough fixture on Saturday 2nd February, and with yesterday's exciting news on the appointment of King Kev (and who knows, there may be MORE if Shearer is appointed as coach!) the tickets are undoubtedly hot property!
So, as well as as being a hot hundred percenter, some lucky pupil and their parent will be watching fab football !
My question is, do staff qualify for 100% attendance awards too?

Happy New Year
After a busy festive season, most of our pupils have returned safely and managed to miss out on the chickenpox, winter sickness bug and flu that seem to have gone the rounds!
In our assembly today, we have discussed our various New Year resolutions, and some of our KS2 pupils are happy to share their resolutions with you.
Some to look forward to at home include....
"To keep my room tidy all year."
To help my mam tidy up."
"To stay friends with my friends all year round."
"To be nice to my brothers."
"To be good and not be cheeky!"
And at school we will look out for these promises...
"To get my Grade 1 in clarinet."
"To improve in school."
"To have fun at school and at clubs."
"To keep interest in all lessons."
And my resolution?
To remember to post more news on the web-site!
Mrs. Bathan
